Arrowpoint--overnighter!

December 29, 2009, five of us Senior Couples (all serving in Guyana) decided to visit Arrowpoint, a resort area Southwest of Georgetown, along a river adjacent to the Demerara River. Handlys, Lingrens, Whiteheads and the Weedons met us at the boat dock ready to leave our regular duties for two days (!)

First stop was to visit an Amerindian Mission Village.

Visited the Craft Shop.......... Back in the boat on our way to Arrowpoint. Gorgeous Country!

Soon we arrived at the Arrowpoint Boat Dock....the Lingrens in front of the resort sign.

The main lodge where we ate all our meals--typical of the native cuisine--nicely done!

Looking out from the front porch of our cabin..........inside.

Picture of the group: Handlys, Collins, Lingrens, Weedons, and Whiteheads.....ready for our hike to our kayaking trip. We had the greatest guide! His family was visiting him this weekend also.

And off we go! Exciting trip with Weedons crosswise in the narrow channel and Handlys bumping into the side--we were all laughing like crazy at each other! It was absolutely a beautiful ride!

Then we spent the rest of the day until supper, some of us resting, playing games, riding in the paddle boats, and Elder Collins went again in the one-man Kayak (that's when I pulled my shoulder out of joint--OUCH!--pushing him off the shore).

That first evening, we had supper around a large teepee bonfire, lit by Sister Weedon. And some visited, via a boat ride, the water lillies that open at night and saw some cayman.

The next morning early, after breakfast, we went on a five mile hike to see an old airplane wreck....on the way we crossed Jaguar tracks. Elder Weedon got stung by several wasps--quite exciting--hurt! and then we headed back for lunch and some relaxation before heading back to Georgetown and home! They kept us busy and it was great!

Such a beautiful trip and if anyone would come visit; we would do this again, without thinking twice!

Anarika- P Day Adventure

Early morning-Monday December 28, 2009-Elder Moses, Elder Brenkmann, and Elder Collins and I left for Anarika for our P-Day with the Ramdeholl Family. Shortly after we got there, with our picnic cooler packed, we followed Sister Celena Ramdeholl down a wooded path to the Essequibo River. Everyone immediately set up our picnic spot, ventured out on the rocks to explore and/or fish.

Richie and a friend are catching the bait fish (they use mixture they have made and it sinks to the bottom, the fish take it and jump out of the water; and as they do, the boys catch them in their hands)--it's fun to watch! Evan Elder Moses tried it!

Elder Collins was probably the first one out on the rocks and the first to catch a fish--Piranha and catfish mostly. Ryan and Elder Moses joined him.

Elder Brenkmann was on another venture to jump the rocks! Vishal shows him how it is done! Elder Moses then joins this fun!

Back to important things (!) Fishing. Elder Collins would catch them and Elder Moses would butcher them!

Relocating the picnic spot--sort of out of the rain! I think Celena and I were wetter under the tree than if we had have stayed out on the rocks!

Another Catfish to butcher! The dog wanted to help!

The highlight of the trip was when Elder Collins went fishing in the boat! This was the picture that I was trying to take when I slipped and "killed our camera"!

We all enjoyed our P-Day and the Ramdeholl Family!
