Lawrence Doxilly's New Home

Lawrence Doxilly (a member in our Castries Branch) needed to move his home to another spot on the family land; he lives in the Babonneau Area of St. Lucia--very near the rain forests. Elder Endemann, Moala, and Collins have been helping move his old home, piece by piece, to the new spot. He has also had help from his family; but mostly has done it himself. Hard worker!

Each Saturday morning for a couple weeks--after working, Lawrence would cook some food for the Elders- he loves to cook! They love to eat!


This was the day that we moved his mattress; still needs to finish some spots and build a front porch. Almost ready to move in! (June 6, 2009)

AND ON A VERY SAD NOTE: We learned today, that this last Wednesday, his little home burned to the ground! Don't really know the particulars; he wasn't there when it happened. Now, a week later, we have some pictures of what was left (it was a family quarrel--not a fun thing to think about!) He will hopefully be able to re-build one day.

Piton Trip--April 5, 2009

(Behind times with this post). When Elder Procter's family and Elder Williamson's mother were here to pick them up from their mission and visited St. Lucia, we, Elders Endemann and Moala, and Sister Myrla Santos-Marquis & Kevin joined them. We traveled to the Pitons on the Southwest side of the island.




Kevin used my snorkel gear and Elder Collins taught him how to snorkle in the bay between the two Pitons. He loved it and learned quickly!

One last look of those magnificent Pitons; Sister Myrla took us to a quaint good food place to eat on the main street in Soufriere on our way home--BBQ Chicken, ground provisions and the works. --great day; we enjoyed the company and the trip!

Luma Family

Elder Endemann and Elder Moala have been teaching a cute little family that live up in the Rain Forest of Babonneau--the Lumas: Roger, Portia, and their two cute twin girls. We usually travel with them to visit, teach, and just play with the twins!

Roger took the time out of his job as a guide on the zip line, to take a California family touring the island--and they are members of our church and started the ball rolling. We believe they are coming to visit again in July; Elder Collins has talked to them a couple times on the phone and they are excited that the Luma family are still interested in the church.

One big problem is transportation--it's quite a ways down the mountain to the church building; but, they will overcome that as they have more faith and a stronger testimony...there will be a way!

Another Day!

Jenga is fun on St. Lucia also!

Our crazy game of Jenga is just plain fun and brings lots of laughter to whoever is playing and/or watching. We played it quite a bit in Trinidad; so, we brought it out not too long ago and-----

Elder Moala and Marlon (young man in our Branch-prospective missionary) and Elder Endemann--then add Elder Collins and Kevin Santos (another young man in our Castries Branch) and you have a crazy moment!

Whiteheads Visit....

On June 16-19, Elder and Sister Whitehead, serving currently in Guyana, paid a visit to our island for the purpose of Humanitarian service. We visited the Red Cross, Victoria Hospital in Castries, the Anse la Raye Health Center, a new project by the division of Human Services & Family Affairs and the Upton Gardens Girls Centre. Then we reviewed the Children's Home in Gros Islet that the Church has already helped. They have a huge job and keep themselves super busy looking for new projects wherein our Church can help. We were busy and loved it! Time was taken to show them the island on Thursday--some pictures follow.

The Jalousie Resort between the two Pitons was a great stop.


We met the Faux Couple (from Vieux Fort) at the Cocoa Plantation and had a really nice buffet lunch: drove back to Vieux Fort with them; then visited their apartment.


Then headed up the East Coast--stopped by the Dennery Falls (and they were "falling" today!)


Loving every minute! Whooops! Missed a step and down she went! That hole was a lot deeper than any of us thought! It's a good thing that our weather here is always in the 80's!


We laughed together and went on to enjoy the rest of the day. We traveled the entire island circle back to where they were staying in Rodney Bay. Their trip here, for us anyway, was enlightening as to Humanitarian Work, and great fun!
