Baptisms are always welcome! Thanksgiving Weekend just makes them more special.
Matham King......and then with his Grandma, Sister Juliet Giles was baptized on Saturday, November 28, 2009
Elder Moses being bombarded by the boys in the kitchen just prior to starting the program. After a baptismal program, we head for the Demerara River not too far from the Church.
Mark Rodney, acting "Branch President", baptized Bryan Bennett and Maytham King was baptized by Elder Park. Elder Moses joins the picture group--he is Elder Park's companion.
Elder and Sister Collins were the picture takers (!) and that works too!
And back to the Church! Nice feeling to share the gospel and baptize!

Thanksgiving in Guyana-2009
Our four elders, Elder Collins and I had a great time for our Thanksgiving Dinner; we had it later in the evening so that they could get their planning done and out visiting people before we ate. Elder Collins and I prepared the dinner, made pies, and of course the turkey, dressing, yams, cranberries, mashed potatoes (enough for a small army!), gravy, jello, homemade rolls, hmmmm! and I know there had to be even more....
It started with the turkey coming out of the oven.....Elder Collins and Elder Moses had a great time carving the turkey! Elder Moses took lots of pictures!
The table was set! Ready for the food and the people! Look at our great "dining room"--perfect!
Everyone ready---Elder Moses, Elder Ramnarain, Elder Brenkmann and Elder Park!
And Elder Collins! And we enjoyed each other and the food!
Then Pie Time! Apple, Pumpkin, Cherry, and Banana Cream!
Hmmmmmmmmm! Enough said!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL OF YOU AT HOME!

Second Zone Conference in Guyana
24-November-2009--Zone Conference already again! Time does go by quickly! Two months now in Guyana.
The LaGrange Building is where we meet--as you can see, it is a gorgeous place here in this land.
Inside, we are getting assembled to begin...........Talking of course needs to go on first! Table of Elders Park, Moses, Scott, Murray (goes to the MTC this week), and Jailall..... Then Richie Ramdeholl, Elder Babbel, Elder Stewart, and our own Simeon Forde.
They have both been to Zone Conference before; but now they are our newest missionaries from the MTC........Elder Ramnarain (we got him in Linden!) and Elder Sookhoo with Elder Collins.
Some more new faces (I will put names to them)---won't this start making a difference in our West Indies Mission.
Always the paperwork--Sister Hymas helping Leon Wilkins and Sister Handly with Elder Sookhoo.
Elder Brenkmann, Zone Leader from Linden will conduct the meeting, with the assistants--Elder Wright and Elder Palmer.
President Gamiette, President Hymas, and Elder Williams working on the PA system; President Gamiette giving last minute instructions to Elder Brenkmann.
..
President Gamiette issuing his welcome....and Happy Birthday to these Elders who have had birthdays since the last Zone Conference.
Elder McIntosh joins us on screen to teach us valuable insights on "using the Book of Mormon" in our everyday missionary work. He and Sister McIntosh are the new Seminary and Institute Missionaries in our Mission.
In this conference we are continuing to discuss and practice how to use the three different types of questions to teach the gospel--using the scriptures, mainly the Book of Mormon: 1) Search, 2) Analyze, and 3) Apply. We had some one on one practices (most of them not with their own companions) and then later in mini-groups--it was quite effective and enjoyable.
Elder Scott and Elder Sookhoo...................Elder Jordan and Elder Barton.
President Gamiette and Elder Jones............Elder Sookram and Elder Stewart
Elder Babbel and Elder Ramnarain..............Elder Duncan captured Senior Sisters Lingren and Handly.
Elder Sookram and ?.................Elder Jailall and Brother Richie Ramdeholl (mini-missionary from Anarika)
Elder and Sister Hymas are together sometimes (!) They run in two different directions most of the times trying to accomplish the things that need to be done.
Listening and taking it all down---"soon to be" Sister Jaipaul and Richie Ramdeholl
TIME FOR SNACK! Now how is Elder Park to sing his special musical number after this (?)----Elder Noah with Elder Lingren.
Elder Brenkmann, Elder Moses, and Elder Babbel......Then they have added Elder Park...I guess the Linden guys can let the one from Georgetown in (?) Elder Babbel that is! and here comes the missing Elder Ramnarain.
Time now for our special Christmas Medley from Elder Park--awesome!
More training from the Zone Leaders and into our mini-groups to PRACTICE!
President Gamiette picked the right group to work with. The Power of the Spirit in Conversion!
A couple Senior Moments!
LUNCHEON WITH BROTHER CHIN (Elder Stewart)..... Sister Hymas and Elder Jordan.....and-------they all came! YUMMY!
An incredible moment when the missionaries that were there as Guyanese representing our Mission---29 out of the 40 missionaries stood up!
Richie Ramdeholl couldn't have expressed it better! What an experience!
That same evening after Zone Conference, there was a special fireside for the eight Guyanese Missionaries that would travel to the MTC in the Dominican Republic the next day. This is a picture of those eight, their families, the Mission Leadership and the Mission Senior Couples that were involved.
The Eight! Narine, Pitambra, Wilkins, Jaipaul, Gaspar, Bharat, Murray, and Henry.
President Phagwah with Brother Narine and Brother Henry (both have been mini-missionaries...........Elder Joey Williams (this is his last zone conference before leaving for Arizona home) and Brother Kahn.
They will be official at our next Zone Conference; except for the Sisters. They will be sent to the Islands (at least to begin).
