Jenga in Guyana

P-Day: 23-November-2009. Here are the four elders playing Jenga in a very small corner of our office, between the chair, the fan and the door--first time for most of them. Such concentration!

Then they became a little smarter and moved out to the living room (!) Careful--Elder Ramnarain.

Elder Moses!--------------------------Elder Brenkmann!

Getting serious with the pant legs rolled up......Oops! Elder Park! and there is Richie Ramdeholl from Anarika--he's getting ready to go on a mini-mission.

Waiting for the ferry

One day, we needed to have a car on the other side of the river for later, so Elder Collins drove the pickup over and rode the ferry back across to meet me. The bridge has been closing at odd times, soooooo! sometimes we have to do this. Actually, I enjoy riding the ferry and the walk to the church or wherever is good for us. There are several ferrys, this is just one of them. This is looking across at the West bank.

This is a "fruit boat" that we use quite often.....and here comes the boat that Elder Collins is on.

Our four new Elders

Here they come to our house for Zone/District Meeting. Elder Brenkmann is the Zone Leader and Elder Moses is the District Leader; both of them do a super job.

First came Elder Brenkmann and his new companion (first transfer in the mission), Elder Ramnarain. We knew him when he was visiting in Trinidad. Elder Moses and Elder Park, both full-time missionaries also. Elder Moses is Guyanese and Elder Park is from Idaho (as is Elder Brenkmann).

Brenkmann, Ramnarain, Park and Moses--a terrific foursome!

Elder Moses giving his lesson.------The other three listening.

Just a nice picture of Elder Park.......and time for leaving and Cinnamon Rolls!

Most Awesome Baptism--Linden East

This was a special day (November 14, 2009) for us and our newest Elders--Ramnarain and Brenkmann. The East side had three baptisms this day; first of all--Serina Sookram, an eight year old was baptized by Elder Brenkmann. And two more baptisms for Leroy John and Joshua Blair--both part of the Emmanuel Family.

Here first is Serina and with some of her family at the church before the baptism. (Selina, Sabrina, herself and her mother, Sharmila--we were missing her father, not a member yet, and Shaniela, Shekelia, and Edward)...think about those names (?) Cute bunch.

Elder Brenkmann..............getting ready for the program with her sister Selina (who lead the music).

Then up the stairs, came the Emmanuel Family......a very active bunch!

Marvin Emmanuel is ready to baptize his step son, Joshua and his brother, John LeRoy. The beauty of this baptism is that Marvin has had a stroke and has a hard time verbalizing words; and with some coaching and encouragement from Elder Collins, he agreed to try it. --another stepson, Russzen steps into the next picture.

Down the path we all went to the "black water" river in Lower Amelia Ward, not far from the church building. Elder Collins with Russzen....

Rose Marie, Marvin, Rhonda, and little cute Dellcia. ---and Romario, Russzen, Jonathan, and Velicia in the second picture on the banks of the river.

Towels protected the heads! Sister Sharmila and Joseph with the towels.

First into the water was Serina and Elder Brinkmann.

Look at the water (!) You can't even imagine.

NEXT! Marvin is ready to baptize his brother, Leroy John......the absolute joy showed on both their faces; all of us knew that this was special in lots of ways!

Then it was Joshua's turn.

The group! -----------------------------Velicia and Rhonda.

Heading home..........,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Elders Ramnarain and Brenkmann.
